Diff Lock Problem
Berliner Beer:
Went out on a night navigation/greenlane day with MK4x4(Had a great day). At one point i though i might need difflock and struggled and failed to engage diff lock. I could get the light to come on on the dash if i held the lever to the left. I had no trouble changing from high to low box though.
3 days ago i had a UJ (dont know which one) replaced beacuse of vibration. Thik it was on the rear prop shaft? Has some thing not been put back right or is this just coincidence?
Any thoughts greatfully recieved.

Are you sure the diff lock wasn't engaged and it's not just the switch for the diff lock light that needs a wee bit of adjustment ?
Berliner Beer:
the lever would not move to the left and stay, it sprang back to its normal position....I`m not sure if it engaged?
v8kenny:
Forgive me if this is stating the obvious but when you moved the lever left for diff lock did you also go either down towards seats for low or up towards dash for high ?
Failing that then the operating linkages have probably seized up if you dont use it often
extreme90:
of the lever is springing back, methinks there something trapped between the selector arm and gearbox casing, or the little pivot pin right at the top of the box has lost its clip (like mine did) and worked itswayout, so as u try to engage difflock as you apply pressure the arm is twisting on you, if that makes sense
in the light, remove the two gear knobs (just unscrew) and remove the rubber gator that fits over the sticks and have a look see whats adrift...you could always take a picture and post it up on here if your not sure
