ill have to put getting my snorkle off for another month now  :?  :x

When I moved into this house 10 years ago there was a token prepay meter installed for the electric. We bought a  small 120litres Marine fish tank and didn't want to risk the electric running out and killing the fish.
With the token meter I was putting in £40 a month and with that I would have about £100 rebate every year as I had paid more than I used.
A year ago they put the normal meter in and said that based on our previous usage we should set up a DD for £50 a month, I thought this was more than I was already using but though that as I was over paying I would get a rebate now and then, Just had a letter through the door saying that £50 a month is not enough and they want £69!!!!!
I cannot believe that a litte fish tank like this can use £30 of electric a month when the whole house with electric cooker, Washing machine, dishwasher etc costs £40

Our leccy bill has recently gone through the roof, but we're in less, and there is nothing new in the house. Baffling me - especially as a breakdown of the usage shows weekdays when we are at work as the high usage times?!

In other news BT credited us £170 which was nice as they've been overcharging for ages!

The house I have now used to be an old folks home before we bought it 5 years ago
The gas and leccy were on commercial rates so first thing I did was contact relevant suppliers to change to domestic supply
Leccy co. were no bother but according to Scottish Gas there has never been a gas supply at this property - would love to know what we have been using to run our gas central heating and cooker on for the last 5 years !

Hey, I've just got another bill followed by a snotty letter from Scottish power for over £200, for gas and electricity in an empty house where I don't live.

Just like they sent me last year and had to change

Better still I had the council tax bill too, now I have to pay 100% of the council tax, becasue the house is empty

If I lived there on my own it would be 75%

So I rang them up to check and this is very much the case.

"alright" I said, "I'll move in then, you can give me the discount"

"you can't do that" I was told.

It's my pigging house, of course I can move into it.

So it's up for sale now, anyone want a house in Stocksbridge?
