My Rangie has a 2.8 Daihatsu TD lump under the bonnet which is ok but I would like a bit more power out of it. Actually I would like a LOT more power out of it but I am a realist!
Is it possible to fit an intercooler from a 2.8 TDi, or any other intercooler to this or would it mean changing the engine/turbo etc.
How much power increase can I expect?
Is it worth the hassle?
Is there a cheaper/easier way to increase poke?

Leave it well alone, just drive it!
I had a 2.5 NA in my Rangie, then a 2.8 NA both slow but 30 mpg.
Its just not worth the hassle , if you want faster you will loose economy, stick a 200TDi in it, bit faster but the Diahatsus are bullet proof and simple to fix.
Ask Graham Dewhurst he is a Diahatsu breaker up north, he is very helpfull and knows his stuff.
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

With the Isuzu 2.8 (I know not the same) a bigger intercooler and fuel pump tweaks can give more power, not sure if its applicable to yours.

I know a turbo and intercooler from a Pjiero (sp) will fit and improve the power a fair bit, but no idea how its done im afraid or what other bits need to be changed too.
