Mk2 Shogun Upgrade Advice Please

Lots of questions, needing guidance.

Got a standard Mk 2 Shoggy. Tortion bars and wishbones on the front. Coils on the rear.

In order to lift, I presume I need to tighten tortion bars and get longer springs.

How far can I lift the front before putting the components under undue stress?

Does lifting allow for much larger tyres without cutting body work off? (I have been told that a maximum of 32 inch tyres is possible in standard configuration as any larger will catch the body work at extremes of movement.)

Will widening the wheel base by adding spacers add stability, or just ruin handling?

Oh, and then there's the snorkel . . .

ANY OTHER IDEAS ON HOW TO IMPROVE A MITSO FOR OFF ROADING - ANY IDEAS WELCOME!

Cheers

30mm is the recommended limit of lifting the front, due to CV joint wear.

Springs, and whilst you there do your shocks, most are knackered after 13 yrs +. Mine made a big difference in handling and ride

I run 33s muds with a 2"lift no problems. No cutting of body work. you may have to remove from mud flaps

With mitsi's the spacers are best avoided due to strain.

Snorkel, got mine from frogs island £250

You can crank up the torsion bar by 1.5" - maximum of 2"

After which you should just be able to get 33" on

By doing a 2" body lift as well you should be able to move up to a 35" tyre

Adding spacers will probably be necessary to maximise turning circle however this will put additional loading on the wheel bearings

Incidentally http://www.pajerouk.co.uk are having 16 x 8 steel rims made for sale for Pajero/Shoguns they will have additional offset which will allow you to not have to use a spacer - still get the extra loading on the bearings though

On the larger tyres you may catch the plastic trim

Snorkels are available as standard from Safari and a few others.

Plenty of ideas but you need to know what you want to do first
