broken tire valve
« on: March 07, 2007, 22:08:46 »
Hi has anyone else had trouble with the valve on the spare tire? Mine had snapped at the point where it comes out of the rim.

It's a brand new tire. I think the culprit was the plastic wheel cover It's the discovery chrome disc when it's bolted to the rim it pushes the valve and bends it in at an acute angle where it eventually snaps.

You can normally get two lengths of valves, if you  go to the tyre fitters and ask for a short valve stem, they should be able to oblige

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

Binned the chrome disc and put a flexible PVC wheel cover on it. Disc is free to a good home if anyone wants it.
