Speeding

<< < (2/2)

hobbit:
A few years ago I got caught slightly over the speed limit in a customers car I was road testing in the garage, (3mph!)

They had a letter from the local authority, and they brought it to the garage, I rang the authorities to explain who was driving and was told they they should fill in the bottom of the paper with the garage address, they sent it in and the authorities re sent it out to the garage.

Then 10 days later I called the authorities again, tried to explain again, but the paper to the garage was to the owner, I was not the owner so it had to be filled in again and sent in to come back to me, finally on the phone again!

This time they said under the circumstances and finding that the speedo was faulty on the vehicle they did not pursue the matter any further, I think the only people who made on this saga was the post office  :?

when i lived near basingstoke i had the local CID turn up on the door step after a had sold a car, turns out it had been used in an armed robbery and was still registered to me   took a bit of explaining that one but what was more annoying was i had sold it to a work mate who then sold it on again without me realising or him having re-registered it

How come in this age of "instant" communication, are we paying these people to make such drastic mistakes ? Has the DVLC now got a call centre in New Dehli ?

The only backup a previous owner has is the confirmation that he/she is no longer the registered owner.... and that's on paper delivered by snail mail ! At least it's in black and white !

I hope the test pilots that drive my old car (FocusST)  don't exceed any limits
Good luck to anyone who says I have a speeding ticket on the way, prove it pal !
