Lifting an SJ410

(1/3) > >>

Ozzy:
Hi all,
Pretty new to all of this. I want to lift my 410 to fit my tyres in a bit better (215 x 15 diamond backs), question is, what's the best way. I would like to go spring over axle or is this too much? Someone told me that the 410 has a narrower track than a 413, is this correct and will a SOA make the whole thing liable to tip over too easily? (Got 32mm spacers on at the mo also.) I've seen the perch blocks for about £60, my welding isn't too bad so don't mind having a go myself, obviously, I know I need to change brake lines and shocks. Also, where can I get a new steering arm from suitable for SOA?
Any thoughts welcome
Cheers

hi lee
yes u are correct the 410/413 axles are narrower than a sammy version although fitting a SPOA conversion will move your centre of gravity its not much difference if you are runnin wheel spacers if you buy the whole SPOA kit from say rob @ rubbers it comes with the Zbar already made.
why not just fit lifted springs from SMJ in leeds 3" lifted springs will set you back under £300 all your need is longer brake lines (£15 each for braided) and shock extensions (see bits4vitsfor these) and that will sort you if you want to fit say 31" tyres fit a 2"body lift aswell this will give you total of 5" of lift which is wot ur get from the standard SPOA conversion

Ozzy:
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your input. Just checked out Rubber's Suzuki, £195 for SPOA kit, will have to give Rob a call to see what's included in the kit. Think this is what I might go for, thought about new springs, bit more expensive maybe. I need to have a sit down and weigh it all up.
With the SPOA I can do all the welding my self so it might be cheapest method, I've already made a rear shocker mount like this one

seems all OK, loads of things that you can do with these zukes aren't there? Seems to do alright as it is at the moment anyway, just have to keep replacing the transfer box mounts. Bought some new HD ones from KAP Suzuki the other week, lasted about 5 minutes.
As I said, I'm new to all of this so any help is greatly appreciated.

Just bought this off that site, got to go and fetch it tomorrow, might be better offroading this one!

I have just done a half hi steer mod on mine (not a big fan of z bars myself)
if you are handy with the welder you can do it for £25-30.main cost being the merc steering arm

As far as the body lift goes i did that for £20 with 10 bits of 2 " box.......i cut the floor as it is being replaced (pics available)but this guy did it without.

and this one

If i was going for a kit id spend a few extra quid and use one of Dave Jones.

And if you manage to turn out any more shock mounts i'll have one..... :D

Steve
