Heater Matrix

Just when I could see a light at the end of the tunnel for spending money and time to make my 'perfect' disco.....I think the heater matrix is on its way out, the car steams up a little when the heaters are on and I am sure I can smell antifreeze!!  How easy of a job is it to change, I have done one on a 5 series BMW before and it was a pig, had to strip all of the lower dash out to even find the darn thing and BMW thanked me for the £165 I payed them for a new one

Range Rover Blues:
I'm told it's not easy, I think the heater goes in whilst the paint is still drying

Been there, done that, NEVER again!

It was the blower motor that went on mine, but they're all in the same area.

I think LR place the heater matrix on the floor, then build a Discovery around it.

From memory:
Steering wheel off
Console off
Centre console off
Dash out

Fix, reverse.

If you find you do need a matrix, I THINK I have one somewhere that you can have.  I'll check.

Bulli:

Same problem in my MKII Golf entire dash out. nuts  in engine compartment on firewall. need 6ft arms to do it on your own. 3 months After I'd changed it I got a letter from VW saying they were recalling them as there was a fault which could cause the matrix to burst. they fitted a pressure relief valve to the hoses where they enter the car. Did the same in my Jetta.
