Winch Tape

<< < (2/3) > >>

I have witnessed this stuff in operation - the chap had a roller fairlead on , which just sliced it up like a cheesestring! (kids snack thingy)

it would had been better without the rollers , but given how easy it broke up i wouldnt trust it

stick with wire for strength or plasma for safety and handling

rollazuki:
Try Dyneema yachting rope
offcuts can be had cheap from shipping places or chandlers, and if you buy the right type, its damned high spec dyneema rope!
also, if anyone has contacts(ive tried, but can only buy a massive drum) try amsteel  rope. Its basically dyneema designed for the fishing industry, with an abrasion resistant coating. Again, damned high spec stuff.

Thank you Eeyore and Landymad for that wonderful trip around the web tonight

I can't believe I missed that post from last week though

I saw the tape on a winch yesterday and was told it was good (probably as in cheap) but couldn't find anywhere on line to get a price for it - doesn't matter now though

Definitely going for the synthetic

Now then Dyneema, Plasma, whatever else is on the market
