Actually Hemp was the original closely followed by Steel wire, Plasma is just the latest fad. I'm sure something will come along and replace it before long.

I think what was meant was that Plasma was the original 'synthetic' rope used for vehicle winching applications.
Hemp certainly came first, but I'm certain knotted vines beat that by a millenia or two. I still wouldn't hemp or vine for winching though :wink:
