Tyre dicisions???
simon15:
I always like the look of big chunky tyres i.e 33/12.5
But at the moment the rangi has 235/85 fitted with a 50mm lift which make it look high but the tyres aint that wide.
So do get a set of 235/85 muds or
Lift it another 2" with some wheel spacers and fit 33/12.5??? which will look and handle a lot better on and off road.
Jim-Willy:
My 235/85 are 32" anyway so 1 inch taller hardly seems worth it to me, the 235/85 is a very common Landy size so they are cheap. Personally i have no time for wide tyres, i wouldn't want to drive on wet tarmac on foot wide mud tyres............
chuggaman:
or you could buy 10 inch rims with the offset already built in.

Tyre choice depends on a lot the terrain you drive on.
On tarmac you will be wasting money on fuel with the 33/12.5 due to their higher rolling restance.
On damp grass the wide tyres have a tendancey to slide sidways, which is all very nice untill you actually end up on a grassy sideslope and regret it. Having said that, i've been left sliding on grass with 7.50 SATs, but then in that circumstance what i really wanted was either a winch or roll cage rather than different tyres.
Also you have the incresed cost of tyres of bigger, less common tyres.
If none of these problems are of any significance to you then sure go for the bigger tyres if you want them.
simon15:
but surely it wouldn't make too much difference in fuel costs as I'm running 235/85 which are about 31''
wouldn't the extra width make a big difference in muddy situations ?
