Might help. Personally i'd get it to a garage ASAP as overheating a 4.6 is a very quick way to slip a liner.

hi
the 4.6 was - is famous for cracking the block mainly in the bore or poss head gaskets, needs pressure testing to be sure or the cooling system sniff test using chemical dye to check for the presence of exhaust gases in the cooling system this would confirm cracks or gaskets good look...

A really stupid thing just occured to me, but it happened to a guy I know. Big overheating probs with a TDi, had the head replaced, tried a nes xicous hub, pump lots of bits. One day he discovered by chance that the fan was blowing into the rad rather than sucking
Some later serpentine belted engines had RH fans rather than LH fans, thing is his had a RH threaded viscous hub and a LH fan
