4.6 V8 P38 Overheating problems

(1/2) > >>

petergalileo:
Got an M reg P38 and the damned thing overheats like crazy.  I have replaced the viscous coupling, flushed out the rad, Flushed out the engine.

Still overheats ! I am guessing its an airlock as it was a real pain to get the top hose full of water.  Any quick tips for bleeding it ?

Thanks

Range Rover Blues:
Thermostat? head gasket?

If all else fails try loosening the hose clip and let the air out that way.

petergalileo:
Thermostat is fine, dont think its blown a head gasket as there is no other symptoms.  I am not actually sure the coolant is circulating though but not sure how to test that.

Range Rover Blues:
Does the rad get hot, if not then it's not circulating, check the pump hasn't fallen off.

petergalileo:
LOL yes the rad does get hot I am thinking this is an airlock maybe
