Misfire help please
« on: February 18, 2007, 21:37:43 »
I have just replaced the head gasket on my freelander 1.8 16v k series engine. the problem is that it is misfiring at idle and through the rev range. the timing is ok and i have double checked my compressions which are fine. Are these cars bad for coil packs breaking down. when i check for spark at the leads it seems ok but when you remove either coil pack the car cuts out. help please.

how bad is the misfire ?
Was it running ok before the head gasket went ???
How hot did it get before the gasket went ??
Did you do the gasket swap?
Are you absolutely sure the valve timing is correct ??
Am I right in thinking you have 2 coil packs and no distributer (mems3)?
Coil packs do break down.... dont forget one pack = 2 cylinders.
Did you clean the spark plugs ?
Is the MIL light on ?
