broken halve shaft/cv , why is my ABS light on?

had a bad day today :cry:  ,Abs light came on  at 70mph and stayed on until i got to my parents house disco drove ok until i selected reverse then i had no drive at all.
i can move the disco with diff lock engaged. few phone calls to fellow mud clubbers told me what i already knew but we dont know why the ABS light is constantly on!

any ideas?

hi not to sure but may be the exciter ring is on the driveshaft and not the hub
so if driveshaft not turning it is detecting a fault

uve probably broken a shaft or a cv & if its a cv & its moving about thus will knock back the abs sensor giving a big air gap bringing on the light

sounds to me like you have a drive flange fault, seeing as the ABS picks up from the front cv joint, if the splines in the flange have gone, the cv wont turn at road speed, hence the ABS ECU will pick this us as a fault, try doing a code read and see what faults its kicks out, this would also explain the lack of drive
