what autobox is it
Range Rover Blues:
The electric would be noce to have, you could make it flappy shift :)
This might be the differecne I'd heard about but I wondered if the 3.9 and 4.2 boxes were the same as I'm wondering which to fit.
RichardRRC:
The 4.6 P38a had a ZF4 HP24 auto in it, to help handle the extra torque.
The 4.2 in my cobra has 285.5 ftlb @ 4100 rpm and 300 bhp @ 6500 the adjustable cam timing is set to "standard", so I would think to break an auto in a 3.9 it would have to be tuned. Standard torque in a 3.9 auto RRC was about 231 lbft @ 2600 rpm.
The electronically controlled ZF4 HP22 in my TD5 DII is happy with 193 bhp it receives :D . But the electronics need "thinking time" compared to the D1/RRC version. :)
I've got a spare auto box out of a 4.2 RRC if it's any good to anybody (complete with BW transfer box) :)
Range Rover Blues:
I've got a 4.6 with an LSE auto to fit this summer, it's obvioulsy ok as it came out of the same car and was running fine, but my LSE is 5.0L and I'm guessing tuned too, it goes like stink but the 'box might have been tinkered with too as it revs harder than a standard 3.9.
I was wondering if the 3.0 and 4.2 boxes were the same or not, because if one lets the engine rev more that's the one I'll fit :D
