What a Find!!! or is it???
1963 SWB
Found this standing proud in a field surrounded by decaying vehicles.
It's a SWB with no sides or roof that has been sat there for about 7 yrs, it has a non running petrol engine and a chassis that will repair but will require a bit of time and patience.
Looks like at one time it had a roll cage but has been hacked off.
Fuel tank has been moved to the boot and the front has been altered so it all comes up in 1 go (bonnet, wings and 2a front grille).
I have aquired it for next to nothing and know it won't be a 5 minute job to repair.
My question is this:
I want a realistic price suggestion for engine (diesel), transmission and running gear to make an open top toy???
There are no FWH's on it nor is there an O/D and i would like to keep the permanent 4x4.

They aren't permanent four wheel drive to even begin with.  :P

For transmission and engine, you're looking at probably around £400 in total for all the main components.

Free Wheeling Hubs simply disconnect the wheels from the front axle drivetrain.  This means that the halfshafts, diff and front propshaft are not being turned by the front wheels while you're running in 2WD.  It's supposed to improve economy by reducing the number of parts being turned, and also reduce wear and tear on components.

i also find it helps the handling too,
mine understeers a lot less with the front axle disengaged. tis quieter too but thats cos my front diff is knacked

£400???:shock:
for a 2.25 diesel engine and box £200 TOPS.. EBAY usually has 1 or  2 a week - most go for around £50..
£400 would get you a complete vehicle - probably with MOT.. useful for spares tho'

i think he meant 400 quid for a decent engine. not an old 2.25 diesel

i got one sat on my drive looking for a good home tho.
