Rock slider design
nishikigoi:
Right, the welders out for sorting the boot floor. I've got the rails for adding to rock sliders. Has anyone got dimensions for making the sliders as I've got a tame steel stockist 8)
floyd fan:
Dont know dimentions, but I do know sliders on a Disco are slightly curved to match the body.
Guardian.:
we have 2 types of slider a kinked one to sit with the sill curve or a cheaper straight one, and to be honest on a disco as long as in the center it is very close the front and rear gaps are minimal as the curve on the door bottoms is very slight.
different companies use different size box, some use 40x60, others 40x40, others including us 40x80.
i would go for the 40x80 if nothing else it will take more to bend over a 80mm section.
our h/d set are50x100 they will take some mega stick but they are much heavier, having a thicker wall as well.

Just wondered if anyone has information on welded box to replace the whole sill? Mine is a bit rotten and it would be easy to rip it off and weld a new sill/slider in.
Sound reasonable?????

Very, popular repair instead fo welding in new sills. Angle grind the remains of the bottom face and/or side faces as necessary, and in it goes. I'm planning the same for mine but it'll be L shapoed by welding two diffirent profiels of box together. This is to act partly as tree slider and partly as step for SWMBOBWBDATG (She Who Must Be Obeyed But Whose Bum Drags Along The Ground   ) to get into the beastie when in the future I've added a 2" lift and bigger tyres!
