Saw some daft eco bint trying to use this 'news' (i.e. Crysler/Jeeps unreliabilty) as another reason not buy 4x4's on BBC Breakfast news. Watching Quentin Willson shoot her down in flames with some FACTS was a real treat!!!!

Hmm, of course, the Japanese car makers clearly don't make 4x4s then!   That'll be news to Nissan, Toyota and of course Mazda (but they rebadge others makers 4x4 instead, but you get my point).

Yet another fine example of people not comprehending what they're reading.

Another great example quoted by the anti's was an Amercian survey that revealed that off-highway vehicles contribute more polltion than the cars on the road in the US. This was mistakingly taken as meaning 'off-road' by some biligerent UK anti-group and their vehement representative. In the States 'off highway' means yellow-goods. Kinda like diggers and dumpers and stuff. Nice one, bunny-hugger.  =D>

Mind you it isn't just the anti's. I have two technical papers at work where Brit researchers can't tell the diference between millimeters and mils (thous of an inch)!

Put it down to incompetance rather than malice on her part, she probably isn't all that bright.

Don't suppose you video'd the interview did you - could do with a giggle!

cheers

Classic. She didn't even know what a Merc S-Class was. Funny or what, even Dermot was chuckling to himself. She thought it was a triumph that 4x4 sales had slumped in London by 6%, to which Quentin replied "Range Rover Sport sales are up 66% in the rest of the country"

He's a hero !!!

No mention of the Mercedes S class in the internet version- they edited that out as it made her look even more stupid.

She dropped a clanger live on TV and said it was about 'symbolism' / jealously.
Breakfast news presenter picked up on it straight away...saying 'so its not pollution or size its a class thing...also got edited out!

I saw that too this morning. Nearly spat my tea out it was so funny!

They certainly picked the wrong person for that interview. She came across really poorly. Where Quentin and Dermot were quoting facts, she was just answering that they were 'wrong', with no facts to back up her statements   She was simply spouting the misinformed generic rubbish like '4x4's are dangerous' and '4x4's polute more than other cars'.

Most articles like this get me angry because they are usually biased against vehicles, but this one came across more realistic.

And they also editted out the bit right at the end when she said something along the lines of "at least 4x4's are now proven to be unreliable too, thank God"

Laugh a minute

Spot the catch, it's reliability of SECOND HAND cars between 3 and 9 YEARS old.

So come on folks, how much is a 3 year old pacific-rim car worth then?

I think if you look into the polution aspect, My 1963 Series 2 has caused less polution than a Toyota Prius in a show room!!!
