To get the most out of the car realy without going OTT.
I have some 265/75/16 AT's on at the mo, (carnt remember what make) and they look close, i thought they may rub under articulation, and knowing that the size quoted on these tyres is the carcas size then you add the size/ depth of tread onto that.
Im not a total numpty when it comes to off roading its just that i have no experiance with defenders and the products that work best for them. My experiance is with the jap imports mainly pajeros.
I must stress that my defender has to get me to work first thing on a monday morning, so big lifts, 35's and so on are out of the question i realy do need it to be reasonably reliable. I understand that when off roading certain breakages are inevitable but when you start putting prop shafts and linkages under strain before you even set off you are asking for trouble on a 14 year old vehicle that has to be used every day.

a 1 inch lift will make the tyres "just" touch pending what rims u have,i have +1 just now & they rub hard on the arches but clear the radious arms cos o the offset im running, so im going to +2 springs as i currently run +2 shocks,+5 shocks & standard props WILL bind, had +2s moded n the props were whoora close

I have +2 OME springs and +5 Procpmp shocks. I have not broke any yet. What 4x4 do you have?

a 90

Can i just make a quick point re pro comps and 'super gaz' shox...
The 'super gaz' shocks are not made by GAZ... ive had sooo many phone calls from ppl asking why GAZ's sell for 80ish quid and Super GAZ sell for 25 quid... !?!
GAZ make very high quality, comp spec shox, super gaz are made by britpart, and are not as written in LRO built with fully machined eyes and pins... they are welded the same as monroe, decarbon and pro comp.. thus why they have weld and clamp lines on...
Ive now fitted a set to a 90 and they feel and drive very simular to the monroe shock, tho they seem ok we shall see how they put up with play days, im not convinced but someones got to be devils advocate lol
:-#
Personally id go for a good quality plus two spring and a plus four shock with a good quality set of brake lines... Just remember cheep doesnt always mean quality...
