whats the max towing weights for your landie then

braked is something like 3500kg for a 110 and RRC
unbraked is 750kg IIRC

3.5tonne with over run brakes and 750kg for an unbraked trailer.

I got a shock when I heard the disco 3max train weight recently. Something daft like 8.2tonnes  :shock:

Yeh, but did you know that if you tow professionaly, ie, you're say a builder, and you tow a trialer with your landie, if the whole thing weighs over 3.5 tonnes(i think) you need to have a tacho fitted....!!!

To be legal anyway!

I do indeed know that. I have been into very long conversations with various people about the use of when tachos ned to be fitted etc etc. there are many complicated rules like skip lorry drivers dont need tachos if they stay within a certain radius of base and recovery drivers for cars dont need em and also coaches / busses on certain routes like busses around towns dont ned them as they are on the same defined route everytime. All VERY complicated but you are 100% right about the 3.5tonne limit for builders needing tachos. How many of those builders with flat bed vans with a mini digger on a trailer do you think have a tacho?? Im guessing not enough of them.

And do you think transit vans with tiny trailers that have air compressors on them have tachos?

Tachos are a fantasticly complicated world that not 1 person I know knows all the rules. I had a talk by someone who specialises in tachos even got stumpted whenhe demonstrated to us a digital tacho!!! :LOL:

slightly of topic but worth noting. :wink: it may save 1 persons license if nout else.
