More tax for the motorists

One simple solution would be not to buy the wretched things or pay the tolls.
It would be interesting to see who much of the motoring/road using public would actually refuse to tow the party line.
For instance, if 50% of the road users, did not pay it, went to court, refused to pay fines and got handed a custodial system.
Could the current legal system cope with that? Would the Police actually want to be locking people up for what is seen by most as an unjust money grabbing scheme?
I am reminded of when I got called in to assist with covering the fuel strikes. My mobile developed a fault, and funnily enough I couldn't get any fuel for the Disco to actually get to where I was supposed to be. How odd.
I don't like to be the 'Harbinger of Doom', but if this is allowed to carry on, there is a very real chance of massive civil 'disobedience', something which the Bristish nation, (when it wants to) can be very good at, and before any of the little departments of HMG that monitor all Email traffic get excited, that is my own opinion!

During the feul blockades it got pretty damn close. Thing is from the lines and workign for Hantsamb at the time we made damn sure that fuel destined for the services got out ok, Trouble only started when they got one out saying it was for the services and it ended up delivering to a supermarket for the public. Even then it was minoroty of people that caused issues.

And the biggest thing about it was that the public actually caused most of the problems themselves.

BETA TEST
The e-petitions system launched in November 2006. It is currently in a public "beta test". This means that users are welcome to sign and create petitions, but we will be making changes to the site, as we fix technical problems, improve usability and respond to feedback. A series of changes have already been made after our review of the first month.

In other words - if the database crashes, we've not got any backups, so all the petitions and signatories will be lost...........to&&ers !

I can't see how 'they' can make us buy and fit a box to our vehicles - and (as has already been said) how will the old bill police this, they will spend more of their precious time tracking down nova-driving scrotes who don't have 'black boxes' fitted, and less time catching real criminals.
