What bugs me is when you close a road or exit on a roundabout, people still pull up to ask "whats going on?"
Their nuts!
--- End quote ---
Probably because they want to know what's going on
Believe it or not closing off a route can be a serious inconvenience to some people who need to access it.
After all If I came in your house and turned your power off without telling you why you'd get very upset I would think
Lord Shagg-Pyle:
What about the numpties, who stop beside you when something has happened on the road and start to ask stupid questions, like:
1)" Ooh, has there been an accident then?", when the road is blocked with wrecked vehicles and the signs say accident.
The answer: No Sir/Madam, I have just personally set all this up as a joke to annoy all you rush hour motorists, because I couldn't find any murderers, rapists or terrorists to catch.
2)"Can I still get through?", when there is a large tree or other non movable object in the road, that can be seen by the motorist.
The answer: Of course you can, if you happen to have a troop of Canadian lumberjacks / Skycrane heavy lift helicopter in the boot of your car.
3)"Are you going to be long closing the road, as I have an urgent doctors appointment", just up from the scene of a fatal on the A3.
The answer: "I'll just go and ask the morticians to hurry up with the mop and bucket, I'm sure they'll understand.
Some people don't understand what was going and threatened to make complaints if the road wasn't opened, that they would have my job (they are welcome to it) and that they paid my wages, to which the usual response would be, after a quick rummage for loose change and handing them 50p "Thats you contribution to my wages, with a bit more to go and phone someone who actually gives a f**k.
I am so glad that I am now a 'desk jockey'.
All those in the Emergency Services and Public Sector workers that have to deal with the idiots, no-brains, arrogant and jumped up members of society, have my deepest respect.

Err I'll put my hand up to asking the officer what had happened on Fri. Then again he had just pulled me over to point out to me that my rear light cluster had turned to taffee and was running out of the bumper  Just as we finished chatting asked him why the Portsdown hill road was closed. Made a big drama about informing me that a tanker had thrown oil of some kind down the road and told me another route round. Then went on to share his iopinions of tanker drivers, the public in general and took a mud-club flier :)
