yea easy
big hammer, strong sturdy vice, drift or old socket and circlip pliers
remove prop
remove the circlips
place yoke in vice,
get a old socket that will fit inside where you just removed circlip
and hit it like you never hit before until the other end is sticking rite out and do the same on the next one,
take out of vice and crip the old bearing cups in the vice to remove them
you should be able worm the uj out now,
after removing the uj remove the other 2 remaining bearing cups
the fitting new is the reverse of that  :lol:
hope it makes sense  :roll:

Any old Haynes manual will tell you step by step,pick one up at the car boot for a couple of quid.

yea but haynes manuals are crap tho  :roll:
i only brought one for tourqe wrench settings and wireing diagrams
everything else in there is utter garbage  :lol:

Second to that, get good quality ones. I made the mistake of buying cheap from a well known internet parts supplier. Opened them up and the needle rollers fell out of 3 out of 4, no grease in them at all :roll: they looked and felt rubbish as well.
Would have lasted about a week at most  :evil:

With respect to the above advice can I offer a little more as I've just done my first UJs.

Firstly I'd suggest you don't expect the use a hammer to get them back in, use the vice or as I had to a G clamp. Be very, very careful that none of the needle bearings have fallen over and are trapped stopping you from getting the UJ fully home.

The older Haynes manuals are in my experience very helpful while the more modern ones do seem to suggest that doing anything more than undoing a few nuts and bolts is best left to the dealer.

I'd get an older Haynes and see what instructions they offer or there's a Polish site somewhere with the LR manual on it which is very clear about how to do this. Indeed a Google on this will locate some excellent instructions.

I think you may find it best to take it easy on this job if like me you'd not done it before!

i recommend buying the more expensive HARDEY SPICER joints, they have a grease nipple on them.

Get them uj's done left one of my knacked ones for ages then when i put it up on the ramp at work i could turn the uj about an inch or more, it was ready for exploding.

only cos i needed no what 3 wires were for  :shock:
i did look at it when i started taking my first head of a 200 then give up onit and threw it into a corner  :roll:
still there now under a fine layer of crap  :lol:
brilliant for wiring diagrams, turned out my 86 bulkhead was refitted with a 200/300 wireing loom  :shock:  that had me confused for abit  :roll:
i always use hardy spicer aswel  :wink:
and dont forget to grease them after fitting tho, as they only come with a bit of grease to keep them inplace :wink:

dunno if anyones already said this... but get a dremel (or something) and get rid of any rust in the yoke. if you dont, you might find the caps an EXTREMELY tight fit, and then when the bearings fall out/over inside it, which they invariably will, it will get stuck in the yoke.

following that, you will likely smash the thing up with a hammer in a fit of rage, and have to buy a new UJ. well... i did, anyway

you do know that the n.a/td/200 loom are all near enough the same?

the 300 is different as they updated the plugs
