Hi all
Has any one fitted 215/75 15 in place of 195/80 15's?
Are any other mods required to enable this?
The reason is I want to fit BFG AT's.

By amazing coincidence, I ordered a set of 215/75x15 BFG AT's yesterday!!! I believe they will fit without mods, but if you wait a day or two, I'll let you know!

And since you are in Norfolk, you should go to JSF in Norwich. They were the cheapest I found for the tyres. Under Ã‚Â£400 for 4 fitted, balanced, etc.

We are also fitting a 2" lift, but this won't be done until into the new year.

Can get most 215/80/r15 ATs or MTs on with no mods...

Very agressive tyres at that size will catch...See Mad FLs link below for full fitment guide under mods & techinfo.

I haven't driven it properly yet, but Sarah says it drives better than with the Goodyear Wranglers.

If you go to Steve, ask him if he's bought any nice reliable Micras lately!!!

I have the 16" Freestyle Alloys on my Freebie, what are the best AT tyres I could fit and size's if anyone can help :?:

How does it corner on the road...its just I was told I shouldnt go wider than a 205 tyre on the 15 inch landy rims as it makes the handling go soft?

Having driven it a bit last night and this morning, I would say the ride quality is better than the Goodyear Wranglers. It is possible it is a bit more 'wallowy' on the corners, but it has been slippery so haven't given it too much stick yet. But you make allowances for more aggresive tyres in the way you drive the car. I can't see it being a problem.

And going into the field last night to feed the dog meat, sorry, ponies :lol: there is a slight side slope on a corner where the Wranglers would slide, but it was absolutely rock solid with the BFG's :D

Well I've bitten the bullet and bought a set, in the end I got them from Havers Ã‚Â£376 fitted and balanced, JSF wanted Ã‚Â£410.

I had them fitted yesterday afternoon and have done 100+ miles on them so far and all I can say to all other Freelander owners out there is BUY THEM NOW your car will be transformed.

Well done.... better late than never :lol:

The fields are *really* boggy at the moment and the Freebie takes it all in it's stride on the BFG AT's. It's one of the few to be seen with great clods of mud up the side and on the bonnet :D Sarah came home one day and told me I should be proud of her because she managed to cover the front with mud :lol:

It is amazing how a freebie with its limited ground clearance and reputation among other LR owners is often the one to get over an obstacle (whatever it might be) and others struggle or fail....I have had to limp home a few times as escort for "proper LR" that have had problems :D

Big clods of earth look great unless you are on the edge of the edge at Stannage with a passenger trying yo jump ship :twisted:

Have to agree. And I've got others to directly compare it to. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.

I haven't fitted the lift kit yet. Waiting for warmer weather 'cos there's no heating in the workshop and it's often in use with a broken 110 or Suzuki :lol:

Does anyone know if 225/75/R16 General Grabbers would fit Freebie 16" alloys without causing problems (or should I be looking for something the standard size) :?:

They should fit depending on age of vehicle and offset of wheels...but you will not have much clearance between tyre and suspension/wheel arch...Lokking at avatar if thats as dirty as it gets you should be ok....much more mud and you will start to have problems....Largest recommended for std FL is 215/75/16 or for height 205/80/r16.

All tyres can vary in profile depending on tread so if going for a really agressive tread then you will need to go down in size (I have 215/80/r15 bronco diamond backs and even with lift and spacers they just fit as tread is about 20mm and profile nearer 90-95 rather than stated 80

I had fitted 225/75r16 Goodyear MTR on my Camel (they are lifted).

1. There was about 4mm between the tyre treads and the supsension turrets.
2. It rubbed the plastic liners (cured by a stanley knife).
3. Struggled to hold 65-70 going from Preston to Glasgow up hill on motorway.

But with the 205r16 she would cruise along at 90. I would say avoid the 225 as its just a bit too far. But certainly I will be going for the 205r16 next time round - once I get hold of some 16" rims ;-)
