200TDi electrical question
« on: December 18, 2006, 11:29:22 »
Doing a bit of rewiring work on my K-reg discovery - I'm about to put a feed from the battery through to a set of cigarette lighter sockets in the boot (at present they run off the internal light circuit). Does anyone know if there is an exisiting chassis attachment point in the boot area that i can run a wire off for the neutral or is running a line back to the battery/fuse box going to be the easiest option?

Thanks,

Ed.

You could strap a negative onto something substantial - there should be a main negative connection onto the bodywork in each rear quarter - I think it's behind the speaker trim on the upper E post.

The best way is to run a negative back to the battery as this reduces any chances of electrolytic reaction (promoting rust).

Hi Ed,
Best to go with what ChrisW said.
Don't forget to put a fuse on the feed from the battery!
