Warn Winches

<< < (2/4) > >>

Mudlark:
Right the other thing is   I stripped it down before testing it so am only relying on the speed from the guy I bought it off as to the speed and he said it was slow - so perhaps it is 24 volt I obviously want to go 12 volt, I can get a motor from the states for a initial price of $140 + shipping + duty I suppose what is it likely to cost me here?

BTW I didn't know it was a Warn until today

solenoids will probably work 12 or 24 I should think with just a little skip if any?

Anyway I can't see any voltage stamped on them - going to have to get it stripped properly and stop acting like a kid who's Christmas has come early

extreme90:
no the solenoids wont like it, ull need to replace to 12v solenoids as for the motor
a 4.6 comeup/ superwinch should fit
or a 4.6 8274 motor
1st of all tho
take the motor off and post a picture up on here along with the mating face to the drum support dimensions as i can dodge down the yard and measure my 4.6 comeup and the 5.6 bowmotor aswel

Mudlark:
Right I've lifted a pic off of ebay - below

It fits the following:

IT WILL REPLACE THE FOLLOWING NUMBERS:

PRESTOLITE MOTORS MRVB4/-VB5/-VB7, WARN WINCH #16543, 18184, 25981, & 26626

ALSO 9130450047, 7536, 15747, 15877, 16548, 160799, 25314, 25981, 25982, 17102, 18184, 226626, 26629, D2000, M1900, 458058, 11212449, 7682, AMJ4635, W-7923, W-8023

OS # 43020018N

Will do a pic of mine tomorrow

winchman:
Two identical motors one 12 v one 24 volt. the 12 volt will draw twice the current of the 24 volt when producing the same torque, its a science and laws of physics thing.
www.winchrepairs.co.uk
new 12 v motors start at £100, might have some second hand though
Change the solenoids, I know they will work but not at there best.
I have converted a few 8274s to 12 volt as I had a few 24 volt ones from lorries.

extreme90:
rite, options.....
that is am sure a 2.6hp
now you can fit a comeup 4.6hp motor 160+ the dredded from pg winches
or a 5.6hp bowmotor from david bowyer for 155+vat
however i really do not suggest the latter    is isnt practical apart from huskeys and 8274's
id get a 4.6 if was me
and its also alot cheaper than the warn motor and prestolite
