Mudlark:
On the M8000 winch can a 24v motor be exchanged for a 12v?

How would I know if this has been done already?

As the 12v motor draws twice the current of the 24v is it the same motor?

Thanks for any help

Xtremeteam:
it will say on the label what votage it is,& also the wmots e intercangeale with some other makes

Mudlark:
Sorry I guess I didn't give enough info for the answers

Should have said the label on the clutch shows it being a M8000 - 24volt

The label on the motor is unreadable

The reason I'm asking is that it does run on a 12volt battery and was just wondering if someone had already changed the motor

Any ideas on the price of a motor as well?

extreme90:
the 12v are usualy double the power of the 24 v
i would say the m8 is possably a 4.6 12v and 2.6hp 24v but dont hold me to that as i aint 100% sure
also if you want to convert ull need to change the solenoids
so what is i you want do ?
go 12v or 24 ?
most people are on 12v as it saves faffing around changing things over to 24 or fitting a second 24v alt
motors are all now splines so are interchangable within reason
but a m8 isnt gonna agree to fitting a 6hpxp motor some how
as its only rated to 8000lbs no more( well apart from stall load   )

extreme90:
doh 2 slow
it will run on a 12v battery just awfuly slow
try looking at the solenoids as they should have either 12 or 24v stamped on them
