Steering Slack

(1/3) > >>

bombx3:
hi on me 90 200 tdi 59000miles i have slack from my steering box to my drop arm and if i adjust it it just makes it tight to turn any ideas.Ray

ferret:
Get someone to wobble the steering wheel and check the steering colum uj's for play. Also make sure the drop arm is not loose as the nut needs to be very tight( as in tightened with a breaker bar.) Check ball joint on drop arm for play while someone is wobbleing the steering. To adjust the box you need to slacken the lock nut on the top of the box and then turn the allen screw in until it stops then back off slightly and hold there while you do the lock nut back up.

hope this helps..

are you adjusting the steering box in the straight ahead position or turned to one side?
