LPG
bezzabsa:
OK so does anyone have a Numpties guide to LPG systems? never had a vehicle with it before - so I need to know how to fill - are there different types of lpg - any thing i need to keep an eye on - any problems with cold/heat?? sorry if its all a little obvious, but as i said i have never had an LPG vehicle so need to gen up asap!

There isnt much to it!
Filling is easy once youve done it a couple of times. Make sure you have a warm coat in the car as it takes a long time and you can freeze while waiting!
It is like a bayonet fitting. put it in straight, then turn it 90 degrees and then lock it with the clip on the handle and lean on the button while it fills.
you can only buy generic LPG, though the mix can differ between places. It is a propane/butane mix. French stuff makes my car go better :) (and the french fillers are much better than the stupid uk ones).
Dont buy gas from BP unless you really have to. it is expensive. morrisons is 39.9p and there are other indipendants that are cheaper again.
Cold/heat shouldnt cause you any issues. My car runs on lpg only and has never failed to start even in the coldest weather last winter. The vaporiser can apparently ice up but mine never has.
Mine has also never got to hot to run properly either.
Enjoy it only costing £25 to fill up :D
oh, and ignore the lpg gauge. they are all useless!. Mine reads full for 100 miles, what it likes for the next 100 miles and then empty for 100 miles!
Fill it all the way up and see how far you can go before it runs out and use that so you know how much gas you have left.
Keep a record of it and you can see what your mpg is like and go get it set up properly if appropriate.
The tank should take around 90% of its marked capacity as gas before it cuts off. (I get around 56-58L in a 70L tank)

COOL :D:D:D at the moment it set to start on petrol and switch to gas at around 1500 rpm....it was the Cut off while filling that i was a little bothered about! its a 100 litre tank so theoretically (?) i have between 80 and 90 litres actual!
so 80 litres = 18 gallons (give or take)
so at 15 mpg (hoping :D:D ) 270 miles on gas..so 300 miles per tank should be a possibility allowing for the actual amount of gas allowed into the tank...is there a gauge on the tank -or just the LEDS on the control box?

Just dont forget your adaptor
There is a place called economy fuels (I think) in Lye. It is next to the aqurium place which is next to where the OK dinner used to be, Cheap LPG (36p) and they fill it up for you. They only take cash though.
