Bridgestone vs. BF Goodrich

I hadn't, to be honest.  I'm guessing you have them.  Prompted by your post, I've done some research online.  Looks like a very good tyre.  I like the idea of the puncture resistance.  How well do they perform in the mud?  Most of the reviews I've read tend to focus on their long-range durability across the Australian outback, not the type of driving I'm likely to do.

blackbeltbob:
what about Hankooks?
I have a set and not had any issues with them yet and they have taken me places where people with better tyres could not get to

Cant comment on Bridgestones - never used 'em or know anyone that does.

I've always used BFG MTs - brilliant off road, good on road and not too noisey either.

Cooper STTs - only been avaialble for a few months, bit cheaper than BFGs. A couple of my mates have been using 'em - no issues in the muddy stuff (although one lad prefers his old Grizzlys to them) - but neither do many on road miles on 'em. The Cooper tread pattern doesnt look too agressive - so should be fairly quite on road.

Hope this helps mate.

SnakeLogic:
Thanks for the input.  I still haven't found anybody who carries Cooper in Japan, but BFG's aren't hard to find.  It's hard to argue with the success of the BFG M/T's.  Bridgestone seems mighty popular here.  One tyre shop started trying to steer me toward the Bridgestones as soon as I mentioned the BFG mud terrains, even though he stocked both.  Maybe the Bridgestones have a better profit margin?

If I can't find the STT's I'll likely go with the BFG's.  Thanks for all the feedback.

If you are struggling to actually find a set for your vehicle, then bear in mind how hard it could be to find a spare if you wreck one...   if BFG or Bridgestone are widely available then I'd be looking at one of them.
