Bye Bye Morphy me old mucker!

I clocked Morph at 60mph while following in my 2A last year!

A few have done an autobox conversion. I fancy it in mine too (along with a bigger v8!). The 101 gearbox is just the same as the LT95 from the rangerrover with a different bell housing and a slightly differet ratio so a RR auto should be fairly easy.

Join the yahoo groups 101 mailing list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/101/) and do a search on there and on the alt.fan.landrover history in google.

You should also join the club (http://www.101club.org/) if you havent already! We can get you a lot of the parts you may need for the truck and cannot get elsewhere. (new this week centre covers for steering wheels and very nice 101 tax disk holders! ;) ) Your truck has been featured on the cover of the club mag a few times!

Re the Autobox, I'd be tempted to go the route of the Auto with a Viscous coupling in the centre rather then a centre diff lock.

This is purely due to the fact the linkage to get a normal diff lock leaver to the cockpit would be problematic though not unsolveable. Martyn Bailey has exactly this issue on Grumble so presently (to my knowledge he is unable to use the CDL).

The existing bowden cable for Hi/Lo range can be placed on to the new autobox with minimal tinkering.

I too would have gone the auto route had I kept him (I've done this on my IIa) but a Camper and a Caravan is a but on the greedy side.

Still waiting for a reply from the list owner . . .  :(

Hmmm. Now I have the Rangie sitting there with a 3.9 EFI engine and autobox (which I think is the viscous coupling type) . . . . I wonder . .

I'm glad you bought that caravan though.

Cheers

Scott

Right, best bet is to contact Martyn Bailey and speak with him, he's done it but on a centre Diff lock version box.

I seem to recall they relocated some of the mounts slightly. If Martyn didn't others have to reduce the prop shaft angles.. speaking of which the front prop UJ's were all replaced around August last year when I did the Diff pinion bearing.  I'm sure you've already found Martyns site but if not it's at http://www.101fc.net/ he may not reply as last I heard he had some health issues.

It will of course mean new custom props but you can get these made up no problem.
