when i was a kid, in venture scouts.. one of the other local units had a leader who was a real numpty... he was a copper and drove a 110...

one winter, after heavy snow, he spotted a snowman on the pavement that local kids had built... being the fool that he was, he thought it would be hilarious to run it over at high speed, sending snow flying everywhere...

it would have worked a treat, had the kids not built the snowman around a 3' high concrete bollard....

if you are reading this, hi Nick... ya numpty.

Funny as hell but on a serious note I think there are grounds for suing the council, if the bollards can come up that quick underneath a car, that first MPV, the one that leaves the ground, well it looks llike it had kids in the back.  Suddenly it's not so funny.  For a laugh I'd park on top of the bollards and try getting a picture for the "getting some flex" thread

I Always thought things like this had to have saftey stops?

Imagine that happening to a motorcyclist or pushbike? Even someone with a pram/buggy.

Nort America they use things called bus traps which are far worse. Basically a foot wide foot deep ditch with a collapsible plate over it. Tend to fine people tearing wheels off or cartwheeling out of them

They are there for a reason, reasons we or other drivers may not agree with but none the less, they won't exist without the necessary signage.

Looks to me to be a symptom of:

a) People driving out of habit rather than reading the road & signs
b) People trying to be smart cuz they think they are "special".... special needs more like!
