Sarah is talking about a lift on her Td4. Looking back, there was a thread a while ago that mentioned Celtic 4x4. The web site says they only trade through eBay now. Couldn't find anything on there though. Does anyone know if they are still trading?

They look neat. Not sure Sarah would want me to cut into the bumper though :D

She's just looking at a bit more clearance so the car doesn't bottom out getting around our fields.

The Bearmach kit is a bit pricey, but I would imagine it's excellent quality.

There is a US kit at Ã‚Â£105 plus shipping.

But not much info on the web site. By the time it gets into the UK, it will be close to the Bearmach price anyway.

http://www.celtic4x4.co.uk/ are up and running. but geraint (Big G) who runs it is also working away some of the time.. I have 50mm lift fitted and can definitely recommend it...Hard to see with shadows but rear wheel in photo about 3ft in air..Car is well used :twisted:

Yes thats the kit and as you can see takes some hammer :D that was the easy lane of the day :twisted:

About as easy as they come...main (big) bolts at base of suspesion legs needss a bit of force to get out but I assume it would have to come out on all...instructions are good and easy to follow...50mm kit needs small cut in inner wing to allow track rod clearance (40mm doesnt) but this is about the easiest bit to do and shouldnt put people off.

Hi Guys, I have had the Bearmach Lift kit fitted for some time and offroad /Green Lane quite often. If you do opt for their kit I would recommend fitting their camber pins, and taking it to a garage that can check the geometry too. Mine was a long way out after fitting and as I commute 140 miles a day, I couldn't afford to replace tyres any quicker than I already do !!

I did take a detour in SWMBO's car on the way home the other day. But I'm not aloud to drive down anything scratchy :lol: Have to use one of mine for those lanes!

What tyres are you running? Would we get 215/75x15's on without mods? Or what about 235/75x15's?

I reckon the 215's would keep the gearing pretty much the same, so I suspect that would be preferable.

The ones in photos above are 215/80/r15 diamond back but do not think they would fit without a lift as they have nearly 20mm of tread and personally would say profile was nearer 90 than the stated 80 and have diameter of about 30"

I do run a set of 205/80/r16 Avon ATs for general use which fit under with no lift, spacers or clearance problems and they have an overall diameter of 28.9"

As far as gearing/speed etc goes if you have a look at http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html you will find an excellent calculator.

For general Tyre/FL combinations see mad fl link below under mod/tech info.

Is 2" the most you can lift a freelander, or are there other mods you can do for better travel & clearance off road?

You can gain an extra 2" lift with tyres alone...but to lift suspension more you then need to start looking at extended brake lines and camber correction also stability of vehicle as centre of gravity will be raised even more.

I have found that with decent tyres and 2" lift my FL will go most places other LR will go and somtimes further :twisted:

Ian, thanks for your help on this. I had a call from Geraint today. Nice guy and very helpful.

So 50mm it is..... and a set of 215/75x15 BFG AT's to go with it :D Had a shop around for the tyres and was surprised to find my local outlet was cheapest I could find at Ã‚Â£394.80 incl. VAT, fitting, balancing and valves (set of 4). Bronco were more than this with carriage and I'd still have to get them fitted. Even my work wholesaler couldn't match it.
