Sorry mate but the answer is YES.
Land rover fitted station wagon seats in a SWB face inward and have lapstraps, but loads of other people have made inward and forward facing seat as aftermarket fittments. I have seen forward facing seats in 90's with lap straps, 3 points and full harnesses.
110/one tens/Long Wheel Base Defenders have one row of forard facing beind the front seats then inward facing seats in the very back making them 10 seaters, I think some even go to 12 seats, but not sure how.
The new Defender SWB featured in most of the mags at the moment has two forward facing seats with three point belts, and a Ford Transit engine!
Gosh these Land Rover things are difficult.

driver and passenger front FULL 3 POINT
Centre front LAP
MIDDLE ROW (same as above)
rear benches - side facing - NONE FITTED (BUT CAN BE FITTED WITH LAP BELTS)

My 110 has 12 seats. The driver and passenger have normal seatbelts. The middle front seat is a lap belt.
The middle row has 2 normal seatbelts ie behing the driver and front passsenger. the middle seat again has a lap belt.
The 2 x rear bench seats have 3 x lap belts each.
My 110 is a 1997 300tdi
Good luck!

also with a 90 / 110 engine wise if it fits physically in the bay no doubt someone makes a kit for it
interior - treat as a blankcanvas.. disco front seats can be fitted - and forward facing rears can also be fitted - at the expense of carrying space!
many people also keep a hard top for winter use, and full rag top for summer sun, bear in mind the heaters are weno where near as good as discoveries!!
also doors can be series type, military type (same as series but both windows slide ) or proper wind up window type - be wary of these as they rot like billy-o
also with wind up typw they came with 2 handle options - same as series (ie recessed lift up handle) or a push button type
hope this helps - a little :D:D:D
