yes it's true they are a short tyre, and the x-terrain don't do mud very well.

Have to say with the mud and all over performance I can't fault them, fair enough they may not be quite as good going through really thick clay like mud as you need the bigger and more spaced lugs to handle that well but apart from that they are top notch and not let me down yet :)

I have been told the same is true about super swamper boggers.

33 is a large 31 and 35 a large 33. Is that correct?

Just look here http://www.procomptires.com/xterrain2.html they are a whole 1/2  inch under size.
If you compare that to here http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/mud-terrain-t-a-km/1152.html the BFG MT's are also under size, difference between the XT's and MT's are .3 of an inch.

Research for the win ;)

Now bare in mind the diameter of the tyre is also affected by what width rims you put on there

Thanks all for your input. :D

OK 8)

I have been researching boggers. Am a little confused though!

This is the info I have from Specialist Leisure:

"first thing the lift kit for the size of tyre, with boggers they are actualy a bit smaller than what they say they are, for example a 33 is really a 32, but a 35 is more like a large 33, this maybe a better size to go for, if when you fit them they are a little big then you could actualy fit a small body lift which is cheap under the body for the extra clearence".

This is from La Supertrux:

"Hi there.
Thank you for your interest in LA Supertrux.
You are correct, the tyre sizes do differ slightley.
Below is the tyre size with an exact measurement next to it.
Hope this helps."

33" x 10.50 x 15/16 Specifications:
diameter: 33.0"
rim width: 7-9"
tread width: 9.8"
tread depth: 26/32"
section width: 11.2"
load capactiy:3000 lbs
max inflation: 45 psi

Info:
Bias ply construction.
Designed primarily for the professional mud bogger.
Superior traction in mud.
D.O.T. street legal - for off road or on road use.

33" x 12.50 x 15/16
SUPER SWAMPER BOGGER BSW
Manufacturer:
Interco Super Swamper
Specifications:
diameter: 33.20"
rim width: 10"
tread width: 11.10"
tread depth: 20/32"
section width: 12.80"
load capactiy:2205 lbs
max inflation: 30 psi

Info:
Bias ply construction.
Designed primarily for the professional mud bogger.
Superior traction in mud.
D.O.T. street legal - for off road or on road use

Which is copied from the Interco website.   http://www.intercotire.com/site28.php

Now to me the data says that a 33/12.5/15 is actually 33.2. with an 11.5 width tread pattern on a 12.8 wide tire. What measuerment does skid depth refer to on the Interco site? And considering both companies that sell them in the UK say are smaller but the figures say different, which is correct?

Plus it seems that they dont do a 35/12.5/15 anyway!!!

Am I missing something or being really dumb today?

Cheers

Can't answer your question Asylum - the figures do seem to contadict.  You might try getting in touch with Micheldever tyres, who are down your way, to see if they have any that you can actually measure.

On a separate topic, have you got the R&Ps fitted yet?

I had never heard of Micheldever tyres. Cheers Mort. Will see what price they can offer for the future.

Not yet. I decided it would be best to get a professional to fit them. I looked into fitting them myself. Frog found me this link

http://www.pirate4x4.com/articles/tech/billavista/Gear_Setup

It scared the crap out of me. Quite frankly I am not equipt for the job myself so I have my TJ booked into my local 4x4 specialist for the 6th Nov to have the work done.

I cant afford to mess it up and ruin 2 axles as its my every day Vehicle. I do plan to get better aquanted with the procedure though as I am going to go to 4.56:1 in my offroader TJ 97. And hopefully with Frogs help (If he's viewing I may get a few nasty comments for ropping him in on this) Do the install ourselves. The advantage with the offroader is I dont need it everyday. I can take the axles off and put on a work bench. Take my time and get everything spot on to the book. If it take a month then so be it. And then if I completely make a hash of it and Frog cant sort my mess out, will take the axles to Surrey Offroad to sort out. They were great by the way and had they been closer so I could have got home would have paid them to install the R&P's.

Frog posts here as Warthog by the way.

Many thanks for your kindness again. Very generous and helpfull.

Cheers

Yes, Surrey Off-Road do very good work - I'm pleased with my 4.11s and lockers.

I tend to buy all my tyres from Micheldever - they seem to have very good prices, and they offer excellent service too - a bit of a drive for me, but worth it!

Thanks for that Peter.

It doesnt seem to be such a large diference as was made out to me. Discribing a 35 as a large 33 is not really correct in my opinion after seeing your pic.

How would you rate the boggers in comparison to simex?

i have never owned the simex but on my tgb i have the fedima copy's they have so far been value for money, i used the truck for the first time in anger on sunday and they dug in very well

i do not do many road miles with my wrangler, so i guess hardcore would be bogger and then you must decide what meets your needs best, i'm lucky enough to have three sets of wheels and tyres.

I've been using the Procomp X-Terrain for a while and the mud-plugging capabilities are only average ....even poor where you need lateral grip !
 They are excellent on-road tho'
I guess you have to decide how much you are willing to compromise ?
