Rear fog's
Evilgoat:
I've been backeneded several times and I have NO faith in other drivers. Sorry but if it helps me be seen, if its reasonably foggy or absolutely leaking it down they go on. In and about town though, no, no point.

HIGHWAY CODE says :
94: You MUST NOT
* use any lights in a way which would dazzle or cause discomfort to other road users
* use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves to avoid dazzling other road users.
Law RVLR reg 27
201: You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 211).
Law RVLR regs 25 & 27
211: You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 201) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.
Law RVLR regs 25 & 27
Think rear fogs have their place but rarely do we get conditions here where they are necessary
Interesting the HC mentions the part I have italicised tho' :?
Front fog lights on the other hand really irritate - just another peace of jewellery for most

Hehe
TBH I'd rather take my chances with the law. I'be been backended in poor conditions by four cars, each time they say they didnt see the car and its actually made me really nervous in harsh weather. The second one reduced my metro van to junk. I also run with my sidelights on at all times. When the rest of the road users obey the highway code and dont use cellphones/strp kids in/do make up or wear their glasses then I'll consider not making myself as visible as possible. Oh and my brakelights are mounted at least 10" from my fogs, so no confusion there.
BrumLee:
If I get pulled I'll take my glasses of and tell the cops I had reduced visibility  might work
