errr what have i done?

i have only gone and done it ..............while at brighton on the l2b run i met dave from terrain adventures and the long and short of it  booked a place for next year to morroco  :(scared):  :(scared): ........... now looking at the "misstress" i am thinking about the tyres engine gearbox................................... the list gos on .

tyres bought at billing from bronco4x4 (remolds) looking at some threds on here as well other sites not sure that they are up to the job of distance and use .dont get me wrong they have so far got us into and out of many sticky places but i just dont know any one have any thoughts on this problem? any idears on diffrent tyres  :(bigshock):  :(bigshock):

engine its a v8i 3.5 seems ok runs well any idears on jobs needed to do to it?


gearbox standard gearbox had to tighten grub screw on solector shaft after getting towed home from billing (there is photo proof out there some where :(biggrin):  :(biggrin): )


if anyone can give us some idears i would be verry thankfull  as this is going to be the first time running at any distance :(scared):  :(thinkhard):  :(thinkhard):

Well what are the tyres bias? I'm not sure what terrian the group leader will be taking you over. A good all terrian tyre will be good for the gravel tracks and will be better in the sand than a mud terrian. but a MT will still be ok. The main thing would be a good sidewall.

Else wise check all the suspension components are up to scratch,
Are the rear springs up to carrying the extra weight?
Providing the engine is in good health and that the cooling system is in fine fettle then all should be well.
Treat it to a good service before you go.
A travel fridge is good to keep the bacon and water cool.

there is a few peeps who have been out there and should be able to give you more advice. as i haven't been out there for a year and me minds a bit foggy.

make sure you do a full visual check of the vehicle before you go, ensure it is fully serviced and up to the task - maybe changed all oils, check springs and shocks - if you changed take old ones as spares?.

Daily checks of course whilst on the trip etc.

Would also check the half shafts prior to leaving.

Who are you going with??

Also work out what you are taking well in advance and practice packing the vehicle to find the most convenient way possible.

I know Darren Burgess (www.landroverdiscovery.net) has done a similar trip - his site may have some info on prepping etc.

thanks for the advice on what needs to be done i am going to look at starting work on the misstress over the week end (except sodbury weekend as i will be going there instead :oops: if anyone has any other idears then please let us know as am always open to idears and would like to hear from you all many thanks
