stub axles

& on mine i threw that seal in the bin cos thats what helped my wheelbearings on there way

That sounds like the difference between the ABS type and non-ABS type axles, I though all 200TDI had that style of axle unless they had ABS, effectively the RRC axle (that's what they are after all) and then the 300 TDi had 24 spline setup.

Anyway I'm glad you're sorted out.  I now keep a stock of those bearings and seals in my 'cardboard box of spares' just in case.
