HELP NEEDED PLEASE!!!!!!!!
« on: September 24, 2004, 22:10:34 »
HIya all

I hope you can help, this is a cry out for help, i have a 300tdi auto P reg, which is refusing to start, you can but the key in turn it to the 2nd position so the plugs warm up, once they have i go to turn the key to the 3rd postion and i get nothing, the engine doesnt turn over, the symbol of a car with the spanner inside it is flashing, and now my alarm will not activate, the remote wont work (has new batterys), the disco battery is fully charged also. The only thing that i can think of is that a friend moved my disco forward a few feet and didnt start up the engine all she did was put it in neutral and rolled it forward would this of caused it to not start??

Ive been messing on with this since 1pm this afternoon, can anyone shed some light on this subject for me, you help would be most gratefull.

have you ensured the battery in the fob is ok?

also is the wiring for the alarm not corroded (this happened to me and had an immobile vehicle)

it runs in plastic tubing which is ribbed (oo-er!) along the driver side in the engine bay by the bulkhead towards the battery

oh btw this is on a 200tdi disco.

also

check that the car is in neutral

and to cap it all

is there any clicking coming from the starter area? have you tried to give the starter a smack with a spanner as the solenoid may be stuck?

Call me stupid if you like but as it was moved by a 3rd party has she opened it with the remote and then locked it with the key or visa versa.
Could this confuse the alarm/imobiliser and therefore give this problem.
If you have the code for the radio would disconecting the battery for 10 mins and then reconnecting it help.
Check that you have all the relevent codes before you do this or you will only make it worse.
Do it with the door unlocked in case the remote won't work after.

i have checked all the wiring behind the glove-box tonight, and they seem okay, is the spider the small metal box with a load of wires coming out of it?? would this be causing it?? any way of bypassing the alarm?

the alarm fob isnt working have tried a new battery in it both of the and still no joy!, my central locking is not working at all even when i use the keys to lock it, im having to go round the doors and lock them manually.

If the symbol of the "car" is flashing with the spanner inside it, does this mean it could be a fault with the ECU??

Craig,

Sounds like it a case of having it pluged in at a Land Rover dealer,

How long have you had it, Is it under warranty by any chance.?

Just talking to Paul on the phone about your problem and thought "is the imobilizer light going out when you open the car with the remote".
This will tell you if the problem is with the imobilizer or the rest of the car.

both of the remotes are not working to set or un set the alarm, i am having to lock the doors manually as the central locking isnt working, via fobs or keys. The imboliser light isnt showing on the dash either.
