hi ian
you want 205 /70 /15 AT's or MT's i use colway 205/70/15 MT's on and they performe very well off road . But for normal use as you said AT's would be better they do these as well . try tyres direct set of 4 is £167 all in.
ps hope this helps , if you look in my gallery you will see standard jimnys are not bad off road. :D

colin:
my jimny off road (local lane) :D

Jim-Willy:
My mate just fitted camac terra they are a new tyre not a remould and are cheap and look great.  His mpg has gone down a bit but it seems to grip well on the lanes.  Got them from a tyre place in Dewsbury, can't remember the name, if you make the pub meet ask Poorman as he knows the owner.

Henry Webster:
Camac Terras have been about for years but get mixed reports.  I have a friend, who's opinion I rate highly, that swears by them, but a number of friends who swear at them!

From personal experience on slightly larger 4x4s (Shogun, Trooper, LR etc.) I rate most of the main manufacturer offerings.  BF Goodrich and Goodyear being my two favourites in the AT space.

If you want to save money then a remould might make sense, but they don't last anything like as well as a first life tyre.
