Hi all
I am going to invest in parabolics but can't seem to find lift shackles anywhere can anyone help and is there a down side to a small (1") lift??

There's not really a thing called "Lift shackles"  :wink: But you can get military shackles or One Ton shackles which are longer than the standard Series shackles.

However, the question is, why?  If you're fitting parabolics that probably is enough in ride height increasement, and you would probably get nearly no benefit from having longer shackles unless you were into off-road competitions big style.

Hi

Ok thanks for that.
There are some green lanes near where i live and unfortunately they have been chewed up quite badly by modded discos etc, I went down one recently and got stuck a couple of times but there was a winch and help with me fortunately.
My aim really is to lift the vehicle enough for  these lanes and a local course that at the moment i will get grounded on but also i want to give myself plenty of axel clearance so am looking into a tyre change and have been advised 750's.
Am i looking in the right direction?

A suspension lift will only lift the chassis and body, but your axles will still ground you out.

You should be using 235/85r16 or 7.50r16 tyres ideally, which will give you a good amount of ground clearance.  If you have a SWB speedo fitted at the moment, then the larger tyres will mean that is will under-read because of the change of the wheel rolling diameter.  So you need to fit a LWB speedo if you want accuatish speed readings from the speedo. What tyres have you got fitted at the moment?
By the way, if the greenlane has been badly chewed up already, do you think it's a good idea to even be on them if they're in such a state?  :wink:

My parabolics (rocky mountain ones) on standard shackles lifted the landy by an inch or so from standard springs

never a true'r would said......leave the lane for a bit and then its a pleasure to drive, for real mud go to the course, lanes need to rest now and again.....also we don't want to upset the other types of user do we? :lol:

Hi

I have wella's with what i have been informed is a 30mm offset the boots however are i agree the problem.
I've had 'Old Red' about a year now it was a cheap buy from some one who had neglected her and it was a progression from the SJ.
When i bought her she had a 2.25 petrol which was soon changed for a 2.25 diesel and i have been running her to work and back to see if we get on, we do and now i feel that it is time to invest a little time and money into this vehicle so i can enjoy the vehicles capabilities.
The reason i questioned lift shackles is because i did it to the SJ and it was a great improvement.
I have invested in some parabolics (yet to collect) and will be upgrading the shocks at the same time, nex will be tyres then it's just deciding what engine and diffs will suit best for the shortish journeys i do on the road and the tame but fun local green lanes.
I have no intention of really abusing her or going to the local quarry as it's a little to extreme.
All comments and suggestions welcome

750's fit as standard so no lift is required to fit them.  they will raise the diff up nicely and it will look the dogs, see my sig, 80p is on 750's.  You might want to try 90 diffs as my mate had these on his series and it made it much better on the road, fast as you want to go in a leafer anyway.

ive got extended shackles one my series as they give a bit of extra flex when i need it, with the extended shackles u also need extended brake hoses. ive also got ES3000 shocks and 33" tyres
