300 Tdi started smoking
« on: September 21, 2004, 20:12:25 »
 Is it coincidence that my Disco has started to smoke at low revs when cold, or does it hopefully have something to do with the recent change of timing belt. It was done by a so called LR specialist but previously only sign of anything from exhaust was under heavy acceleration... Here's hoping?

Just a guess but could have got the timing slightly out maybe?

Yes, has always started very well, only thing I have noticed is improved performance since belt changed. Pulls quite a bit better than it did and still getting high 20's to the gallon even around town. Since belt change has passed MOT emissions test without problem. Once warmed up all seems back to normal. Checked today and main thing to note is that smoke is grey/brown not blue!.......Any thoughts appreciated.
