May be buy a brand new one and keep the receipt ??
These do have a tendancy to give problems, I have seen ones that have melted plugs. Might be worth testing your alternator output just in case but I cant see that that would cause just the problem with the indicator stalk, if the alternator output was too high you would be blowing bulbs faster too.

The stalks fail due to the all the power going through the stalk there is a mod that can be done to try and slove this problem
Basicually you wire the stalk to switch a relay and feed the relay directly (through a fuse ) from the battery, aparently this will make your lights brighter as well

Disco Inferno:
i suffered this problem 5 or 6 times until i realised what was going on
It was a crap connection on the multi plug on the back of the stalk
crap connection = high resistance = heat etc etc
my anser to the problem was to go to the scrappy and carve up some old metros for the stalks and loom ends
i then replaced the multiplug ont he end of the loom with a decent 2nd hand one and attached the new stalks, for the 18 months i had the car for after that i never had a problem
