Hi there, I am planning on putting a 2" lift on my 200tdi . I have also been offered a set of 235x85x16 BFG mud tyres. Does anyone have any experience of tyres this size on their Disco and any experience of BFG mud tyres.

That size tyre was on my Disco when I bought it, it has a 2" lift but the rear wheels still caught on the bodywork and the fronts on the radius arms at full lock.

I went down to 245/75 16's and I still had to do some minor modifications. The bigger tyres made it difficult to pull away in first gear and fifth gear was unusable.

But saying that, it did look a beast on the big tyres, I am thinking I may get a set of mud pattern tyres in that size on steel wheels just for playing and keep the alloys and AT's for everyday use.

Rebel3:
If you put 235/85/16 on steel wheels the offset of the wheel will bring the tyre further out under the wheel arches and you will definitely need to cut the wheel arches on the rear, and the front skirt will need some cutting, the offset will help you retain a better steering lock though.

Paul.K/LuckyTrucker:
Hi, these tyres are on 3 spoke R Rover alloys, am I likely to have problems with those.

TimM:
Both bits pf advice will apply, whatever rims you have the rear arches will need a trim - but it's well worth doing for the extra lift on your diff
