If you check your policy it will tell you that you can claim for glass & it doesn't affect NCB - I had to have a window replaced thanks to thieving gits a couple of months ago

That's correct, a glass claim is not a 'proper' claim and has no effect on the NCB.

We have had a couple of (free) repairs and three windscreens in the past few years (including nice expensive heated windscreens) and although they are shown on the policies they are not classed as a 'real' claim.
