Disco gear problems

It's been happening now for a couple of weeks.  At first it was only when I changed down from 3rd to 2nd gear, now it's started when I change from 1st to 2nd.  Definately seems to be 2nd gear that's playing up! Yesterday I had to stop as I couldn't get it into 2nd gear at all when I started off!

My Disco is an 'L' reg, 2.5tdi if that helps anyone!

Any help appreciated as being a 'girlie' I don't know much about it!

I believe this is a classic Disco problem. The selection of 2nd gear in some way wears over teh years. You may find the difflock oils help equally when was the gearbox oil last changed?

Otherwsie I thinks it's new gearbox time!

You may find that changing gear more slowly helps or double declutching. Taking it slow works for me.

I don't think Discos know if they're being driven by ladies though so that bit probably doesn't matter.

another thing , alot of disco gearboxes have auto trans fluid, which you could easily check. its red in colour .whilst its ok to use mtf is alot better, got a full spec sheet on it somewhere. iff ya need it give us a shout i'll try and dig it out. alan.....on the note of diflocks oil it was the price that made me think twice about it.
