Happily on holiday wiht the family the other day when i was struck with killer chest pains...the other half too me to A&E after an hour of complaining about them, and turnign a "little pale"!!
Many tests, (ECG's, bloods, arterial bloods, x-ray, poking, prodding etc later) i was released only to be called back in urgently by the doctor who had recieved further test results which were "not good"!!
To say i was terrified was an understatement - i'm 25 and they were concerned i have/had a pulmonary embolism (blood clot on lung) - more tests, visits from consultants and more doctors and discussion of keeping me in etc they decided to release me again (many hours later) on the promise that i come back if it comes back or i get any other symptoms.
It just makes you stop and think how precious life is when faced with somthing serious like that - i'm still on "alert" for the return of my chest pain to rush back off to a&e.
Happy days

good luck - been there 2 years ago. after 13 weeks on the sick i was told all results were 'inconclusive'..so basically im up the creek without a paddle, as they dont know what to do with an 'inconclusive' result!
must admit it makes you appreciate the little things a bit more..

13 weeks
Its a funny thing though, one minute they wanted to keep me in, pump me full of drugs and do a CT, the next i'm free to go as long as it doesnt get worse!!

was kept in overnight on the cardio ward -then released the next day - pending test results, while i was in i had 2 ecg's, 1 chest xray ,about 3 pints of blood taken (dont ever let a Dr take blood - my arm looked like i had been on heroin for years!!!) i wasnt allowed to move by myself, if i wanted the loo (5 steps away) i had to be escorted..they also wanted someone to go in with me till i told them that if i collpased i wouldnt sue them!!!!
also had blood tests and the 'heart stress test' which is done on a running machine
