cant get to nuts and bolts

I hope you have A/C in your garage? In the UK we all sit freezing our dangly parts, you must have the opposite problem, permantly sweaty hands.

The easyest way that I have found is to lift the engine off its mounts completely, this causes the front of the engine to drop and open up the gap around the top of the bulkhead.

Range Rover Blues:
Yes, I remove the engine mounts too.  The bottom 2 bolts each side are easy, right?

The next 2 I can reach is I use every extension in my socket set, about 4 feet of them!

You can reach the top 2 from underneath, or through the transmission tunnel.  First time I had the engine out I put a combination spanner on the bolt, rested a long bar in the forked end and twatted it with a sledgehammer.

The worst thing is you can't see them half the time, just be patient it can be done :wink:

Ok guys thanks for the suggestions, butt by the next post i put up youve proberlly guessed ive got the engine out now and the new one is in. I Got a 14 mm ring spanner and cut the end od and then welded the handle on at 110 degrees allowing me to get to the bottom four bolts, then i had another ring spanner and cut that one too so the it was only about 5 inchs long that alloud me to get all yhe rest of the bolts with out any problumes.
