Springs

--- Quote from: "bullfrog" ---In a word NO as the disco is considerably heavier ! The 90 springs will fit but thats all. It will handle worse than now !!

the shocks are a direct replacement & also the defender benefits from having heavyer duty shocks as standard

bullfrog:
90 and defender are 2 different models and its the springs the vehicle sits on.
The shocks take the bounce out !
Most 90 springs and shocks will be a little tired by now whereas a defender set could well be only days old but either way the disco is considerably heavier and would sit a lot lower due to its big ar5e !

the 90 & defender springs are exactly the same no matter what age o the motor,

My 90 racer weighed 1900KG,henry websters disco is substantually lighter his has a full shell, mines was a soft top,go figure,

a disco is marginally heavyer than a 90 ie next to hee haw,

the defender/90/110 shocks are of a heavyer duty damping from standard so thats a good thing for a disco cos hes askin about the roll, fit a set of defender/90/110 heavy duty springs,(red/yellow/green & red/white/yellow)(iirc) on the front & a set of white whits on the arse, thus giving go kart stiffness,

BTDT with my 90,wanna go round roundabouts faster than a pimped out saxo fit the above^^^

Well having checked with factory specs the 90 weighs 1795kgs (3729lbs) and the disco weighs 1900kgs (4375/9 lbs)
200 kgs is a fair weight difference and as stated an old set of 90 springs will be quite tired and are NOT the same spec as 110 being a different size for one and having to support 20" less chassis let alone vehicle.
A 90 has ally tub/floor and roof . A disco has 10" more chassis, steel floor and steel roof + a huge overhang acting as a counter balance affecting the load on the rear springs.
  :?
Guess you have added some weight to your racer to put 200 kgs on it over factory :?

In answer to the original question 90 springs/shocks will fit but I would order a set of disco ones as a minimum if not slightly uprated to improve on road handling. :)

& you are still missing the point,

a defender has stiffer springs to carry the weight, a disco has softer springs to give comfort,

yes i had added 200kg o weight cos as henry will prob remember it had a heavy bloody roll cage onit,it was also built out a chopped down 110 so thus was carrying a sals rear axle,

ALSO a defender chassis is deeper so theres more weight there to begin with, thats why every1 is using discos to build racers out of cos for a start its already that much lighter than a 90 chassis, add a cage & its nearly the same weight as a bare 90 chassis

At the end of the day what do i know eh??
